We are trying not to lose faith

All along the way we relied on good people.

Our two sons were killed by the bombs of Assad. We invested everything we had to make the journey from Idleb to Germany. We didn’t even have money to buy my husband a wheelchair. All along the way we relied on good people to help me carry him. There were many good people, people we didn’t even know. Once we were in Europe we had to walk most of the way because we ran out of money. The worst was in Greece where we walked for eight hours in only one day. I don’t even remember how many kilometres we covered in total… too many. When we got to Germany, doctors gave my husband a wheelchair. But that’s pretty much it. Our shelter is outside of Berlin so every day we have to change a few busses to come to the Asylum Office and wait for our papers. We don’t have money to pay for tickets and we got a fine. We are trying not to lose faith but life is really hard for us.

Boryana Ivanova launched REFUGEE VOICE as an attempt to humanise the discussion on refugees and change the often negative perceptions that people have towards them. REFUGEE VOICE wants to  show that every person has their worries and their dreams.
